Organization Description:
Mission: Prevent and control of tuberculosis and lung disease, as well as related health problems including HIV / AIDS, in the State of Maharashtra.

Goal: Promote competency among all health care providers for implementing and assessing anti-tuberculosis and respiratory health programmes and to create awareness in the society about tuberculosis and lung disease, as well as related health problems


The aims of the Association are:
1. To gather and to disseminate knowledge on all aspects of tuberculosis and lung disease, as well as HIV and resulting community health problems

2. To alert doctors, decision makers, opinion leaders and the general public to the dangers presented by tuberculosis and lung disease, as well as the community health problems associated with them

3. To coordinate, assist and promote the work of local partners in the State

4. To establish and maintain close links with the International and National and government and non-government institutions in health and development sectors.


The key activities of the Association include Education, Technical Assistance
and Research:

1. Education is directed at health-care providers, decision makers and the public at large. It is carried out through dissemination of information, training and public education.
1.1 Dissemination of information is carried out through the following activities:
a. Conferences, courses and publications
b. Scientific statements issued from time to time
c. Joint meeting, reports and recommendations with the State Health Departments.
1.2 Training of health-care professionals is provided by courses, seminars and publications.
1.3 Public education is undertaken by awareness programs and media announcements and reports.

2. Technical Assistance will be provided to local partners and District Associations in the State. The aim of this assistance is to aid in developing, implementing and evaluating programmes for tuberculosis control and the promotion of lung health.
