Organization Description:
Our organization provides wide range of activities on TB and HIV-associated TB prevention. We join the efforts of mass-media professionals, who work in this area. The organization activities are aimed to spread information about TB and its prevention, advocacy and social mobilization. We participated in facilitation the Proposal of Ukraine to the Global Fund (7th Round) on TB component and orginised the working process of the experts group on subcomponent 'information, advocacy and social mobilization'. The members of the Bord constantly work with the Parliament of Ukraine. And also collaborates with the WHO Office in Ukraine, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, USAID, Foundation 'Ukrainians against TB'. We are one of the founders of oraganizations coalition 'Stop TB Together'.

International association of journalists 'Health Without Borders' directly supports the implementation of the following sections of the National Programme on TB Control for 2007-2011:
paragraph 1.3 – Carrying out monitoring and assessment of the state of the implementation of the Programme’s measures – by carrying out independent monitoring of the implementation of the National Programme’s measures on the national level and through its representatives in Ukraine’s regions on the regional level. Also, the Association’s representatives form part of the Advisory Group to Support and Monitor the National Programme on TB Control for 2007-2011 with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
section 5. Supplying TB establishments with antimycobacterial medications – by constantly monitoring and advocating timely allocation of funds for purchasing TB in the amount necessary.
paragraph 6.2 – Introduction of WHO-recommended statistical reporting forms – by advocating the introduction of international TB control strategies and recommended service provision standards in this area in Ukraine.
paragraph 9.2 – Improvement of the system of providing training for doctors, specialists on laboratory diagnostics, middle medical workers of medical establishments – by organising and holding trainings with front-line medical workers on improving the effectiveness of diagnostics of tuberculosis and combined HIV/AIDS-tuberculosis infection.
paragraph 9.4 – Development of modern programmes of training and re-training of social service workers, NGO workers in topical TB issues – by organising and holding information meetings with workers of the State Social Service for Family, Children and Youth on issues concerning organising TB control work and trainings for NGO representatives in TB prevention organisation issues.
paragraph 9.5 – Improvement of the system of providing information for the population on topical TB issues; paragraph 9.6 - Systemic publishing and distributing among the population social advertising and information and education materials on topical TB issues – by monitoring the population’s awareness about topical TB prevention issues, by preparing and advocating proposals about improving information work in this area, developing and distributing information materials on TB prevention among all the categories of the population, organising and holding information actions among Ukraine’s population.
paragraph 12.1 – Carrying out measures aimed at encouraging specialists to work at medical establishments – by advocating improvement of the social protection of phthisiologists.
Also, the Association does advocacy work to ensure funding for the National Programme on TB Control for 2007-2011 in accordance with real needs.
