Organization Description:
The Development Communication Initiative of Uganda is a Ugandan NGO established to promote social development within communities by collecting, sharing and disseminating information relating to health and social development. The Initiative seeks to accelerate sustainable development by utilizing various communication strategies to improve the lives of children, youth, women and men within the rural and peri- urban communities.

By creating awareness of the disease among most vulnerable or at risk populations. The DCIU conducts community awareness programs on TB and refers identified cases to areas where they can acquire free professional help.

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB-HIV:
The DCIU creates awareness of both HIV/AIDS and TB among at risk populations such as slum and prison dwellers, youths and rural- urban migrants. Identified cases within the communities are referred to free government and private clinics which could be health centre IIIs or referal hospitals.
