In 1997, EPI LAB was established as a public health outreach research center initiative represented in a non-governmental, non-profit organization based in Khartoum, Sudan. The Idea was brought up by the field work of the Doctoral thesis of the SNTP Manager. Epi Lab was established to address the following objectives: .Support and evaluation of health programs .Utilizing the successful model of SNTP to address other public health problems .Strengthening research capacity .Linking Academia to Public Health

From 2005 – to date The Epi-Lab has been providing Technical Assistance to Sudan NTP for revision of various guidelines by having an officer at WHO and UNDP as well as CCM of Global Fund (GF) at the Federal Ministry of Health. (FMOH) ; to support the program in optimizing tuberculosis control activities. In addition, from 2005 – to date The Epi-Lab has been providing Strategic Technical Advisory Group for National TB Programs, EMRO, WHO: Board Member.
