Contribution |
| Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below: |
TB-HIV: Kempinski Hotels S.A. has been committed to combating Tuberculosis since 2008 through its involvement in the Stop TB Partnership and is the founding member of BE Health Association, an independant non-profit health association, founded in Switzerland with one goal: to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, in particular HIV/Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria (www.behealth.com). BE's is facilitating prevention activities from the workplace out into the community.
BE's focus in 2013 is on Thailand, Djibouti and Kenya where peer educators who represent a vast range of gender, age, literacy, and departments are receiving training from healthcare professionals on: 1) creating positive awareness about infectious diseases, in particular HIV/Aids and Tuberculosis; 2) combating discrimination and stigmatisation; 3) supporting people and encouraging diagnosis.
Since 2008, Kempinski Hotels celebrates each year World TB Day in its properties across Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa. To mark the World TB Day, various activities and events are organised by the hotel teams: in-house training sessions about tuberculosis, soccer and volleyball competitions, health seminars, distribution of flyers with TB information to citizens, fund collections, etc.. |
