Organization Description:
It is a medico social NGO concerned with health education of community against TB and include in its membership professors,academics ,physicians ,lawyers and journalists .it was established in 1944 and considered as the sperhead of Iraqi NGOs regarding health education and TB services provision.
the Society is implementing TB education program with the help of UNDP/WHO in poor and vulnerable populations.

Please tell us how your organization is contributing to your country's national TB control plan:
our organization is the main partner and stakeholder to Iraqi NTP .We conduct together many activities related to R6 and R9 GF/against TB,Malarai and Aids.
we did conduct for the NTP a guide line on Pediatric TB,SOP for contacts and IDP /TB assessment.in addition to community campaigns against TB and health education programs and several training courses for medical staff and CHW. many other activities including printing health messages.

Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
Since 2008 we are engaged in GF/UNDP R6 and R9 in implementing DOTS startegy in the form of training of public and private sectors,conducting KAP survey oin the year 2009 and strengthening PHCC (8) to be promoted from treatment centers into Diagnostic and treatment centers.

Drug-Resistant TB:
we are working with Iraq NTP since 2010 in assist building a new MDR hospital and training the health staff on MDR ,In addition to conducting health campaings and also trying to develop a legislation to spend salaries for MDR patients .

TB-HIV:
We did work with WFP and did develop a humanitarian tool kit for HIV and HIV/TB for iraqi civil societies and did conduct sevral training workshops and health events related during the year 2010-2011

Fundamental Research:
we did conduct 2 KAP surveys about KAP of iraqi population toward TB disease (2009-2010) and both of them were published in MEJFM /January 2009 and Iraqi medical syndicate medical journal 2010

Research:
we are working on operational research in cooperation with UNDP in developing a contact tracing guideline and research about contact tracing and TB patients
