The Koch-Metchnikov-Forum (KMF) is a German-Russian scientific health organization aiming at transferring scientific medical knowledge into practical application in health care, especially in the control of socially relevant diseases, such as infections (mainly tuberculosis), health of mother and child, laboratory diagnostics and others. As nongovernmental organization and initiative of the Petersburg Dialogue, KMF works in accordance with the ministries of health of Germany and the Russian Federation within the modernisation partnership as agreed upon between the two countries. KMF activities aim at harmonizing the Russian health care system with WHO guidelines and recommendations. KMF collaborates with the German-Russian Forum which strengthens civil societies in both countries. Together with its Russian partners, KMF is also active in other Eastern European countries, notably in the successor states of the former Soviet Union, and in the Yemen.
