Womenalive Development Initiative is a non-governmental, non-profit organization with the vision is to seeing a society where diseases, illiteracy and poverty are reduced among women, girls and children and their rights upheld through related interventions.

Mission: Our mission is a commitment to bridging the gap between the poor and the rich, and providing access to opportunities and services for women and children through poverty alleviation activities and health care for sustainably improved standard of living.

Please tell us how your organization is contributing to your country's national TB control plan:
My organization is implementing Community TB Care of Global Fund Rounds 5 and 9 in one Local Government Area.The project is it its 22nd quarter now. The strategy used is involvement of 30 Community Volunteers who identifies suspects and referrs them to the Health Facility in the Local Government Area for sputum sample smear. Positive cases are enrolled for DOTS services.
The organization also refers PLHIV for TB screening at DOTS sites

TB Care Delivery:
MY ORGANIZATION IS CURRENTLY IKMPLEMENTING THE COMMUNITY TB CARE IN ONE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA IN AKWA IBOM STATE OF NIGERIA. IT ALSO PLANS TO MAKE FURTHER APPLICATIONS FOR NORE FUNDINGS FOR NEW PROJECTS ON TB INTERVENTION

Womenalive’s interest in the TB field is
1. To see TB patients diagnosed earlier
2. To see improved access to TB care especially in the rural communities
3. To see TB patients adhering to TB treatment for better results
4. To see PLWHA screening for TB as a habit
5. To see communities being part of the TB care
6. To see stigma and discrimination among people living with TB reduced in the communities through community partnership
7. To reduce the number of HIV positive patients contacting TB as co-infection through on-going education and counselling

This interest will not be in conflict with any issues that may jepoadise it.

The work of Womenalive Care Foundation in the TB field
1. We have been visiting the TB/Leprosy hospital in Ekpene Obom to carry out HIV counseling and testing for the TB/Leprosy inmates
2. In the Support Groups of PLHIV, we encourage and refer them for TB screening
3. We give health talks on the effects of TB and TB co-infection in PLWHA support groups
4. We are in close partnership with Dammy Memorial Hospital DOTS Centre
5. Currently we are working on 22 quaeters old Community Mobilization for TB Care in Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria; A Global Funds Round 5 and 9 Project
