Organization Description:
Health and Rights Education Programme (HREP) is a registered non profit making, non governmental formed under the NGO number TR/INC 2747 of the Republic of Malawi in the year 2007.

HREP Mission
HREP mission is promoting good health and equal rights for all through civic education, lobbying, advocacy, research and documentation.

HREP Vision
A healthy society that is actively and effectively participating in the development of the country.

HREP Main Objective
The overall goal is consolidate the health and human rights initiatives in order to empower citizens to participate actively and effectively in the Socio economic and cultural affairs to our country in order to build a health nation

Our organisation is interested in Tuberculosis(TB) because of our discussions with communities in Malawi has shown that TB is top five serious disease in Malawi that need advocacy and support by all concerned groups including our own.

Our organisation represents local NGO at Ministry of Health policy planning level and has taken an interest to advocate for support to TB because of the community outcry to be part of TB programme planning process at a community level which we are planning to take in full swing at all levels.

We contribute towards TB control through advocacy and lobbying as we are a member of Ministry of Health-Malawi national health strategies review team since 2004 today where we have contributing alot in TB policy changes.

Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
We are working with the Ministry of health to strengthen DOTS expansion and enhancement policy that every health facility or outreach service should have it.

TB-HIV:
We are working with country level teams to harmonise TB/HIV prevention strategy which feeds into the Global plan to Stop TB in Malawi.

New TB Drugs:
On TB drugs we worked with global funds strategy to put omre emphasis on new TB drugs in new funding policy which under way in most countries.

New TB Vaccines:
We work with global partners in strengthening vaccines availability for children by strenthening and expanding routine immunisation list policy ti include new TB vaccines in Malawi and globally.
