The NEMA South-South Zone is mandated by an enabling ACT No 12 of 1999 to manage emergencies and disasters in all its ramifications. The Zone thus embarks on proactive prevention, mitigation and post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction.
According to the Federal Ministry of Health, the South-South Zone of Nigeria is a high risk area as regards cases of tuberculosis.Therefore, we are interested in taking up the issue as a local emergency.
We plan to embark on agressive sensitization campaigns to all the six states in the zone ( with a combined population of over 25 million).

DOTS Expansion and Enhancement:
Planning to collaborate with all stakeholders to intensify advocacy efforts in the zone.

Fundamental Research:
Have collaborated with six Nigerian universities aimed at intensifying research and development on issues about tb and other health issues.

The only percieved case of conflict of interest is with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA),which usually reneges on sharing information with the agency.
