Community Aid Development Foundation ( CADEF) is an Integrated Non-profit making organization working in the area of Public health especially sexual and reproductive health . We empower the POOR and vulnerable by dissemination of quality information, education, training, Counseling, and empowerment and promoting of sustainable development.Our vision is a society free from preventable disease and unjust structures where the individual are empowered to live a healthier lives. Our interest in TB emanates from our desires to save lives especially where TB is a curable one and the vast majority of the people continue to die due to inadequate information and by our little efforts several lives are been saved on a daily basis.

Currently we are implementing the Community TB Care( CTBC) project to raise awareness about TB and DOTS strategy within the community in partnership with the Lagos state TB and Leprosy control Program and all our data are fielded into the state , ditto National. We are already advocating for DOTS expansion increase reach to more people who may be infected with TB in remote hard to reach rural communities of the Sate and this is being given serious attention.

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
The community Aid Development Foundation(CADEF) has in the last Two years and seven months implementing the Global Fund R9 TB component of Community TB care (CTBC) using Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization (ACSM) strategy as Sub-Sub Recipient from Health Alive Foundation through the Principal Recipient Association of Reproductive and family health ( ARFH)where we are carrying out Community TB care program in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State , Nigeria. This intervention which is in partnership with Lagos State TB and Leprosy Control Program has led to expansion of the numbers of DOTS centers from 9 in January to 25 by July 203 and more DOTS centers are being planned. As we continue to carry out awareness creation in the various communities within the council area. All data from the program are fielded into the state through the TB program officer in the state.There are remarkable treatment completion rate through the support of community volunteers and reduction of treatment relapse and Drug -resistant TB(MDR-TB). Basic TB knowledge is high in some of the communities that we have carried out ACSM activities,Case detection rate has also increased.

TB-HIV:
CADEF is a sub-community based organization (CBO) in the ongoing FHI360 Strengthening Integrated Delivery of HIV&AIDS services (SIDHAS) project in Ojo local Government Area of Lagos.TB is mainstream in all activities ,referrals are made and treatment are also being supported through our community volunteers.
