MYROi started as a youth organization. It was established in 1983 as a school-based student organization. Now it has spr...ead its scope and area of coverage with the evolution of its different chapters in the higher education institutions in Central Mindanao. In 1997 MYROi formally evolved as a non-government organization formed by its professional or alumni members. It was organized with the broad concept of helping to prepare the youth for responsible leadership and initiating alternatives to accelerate the development of Mindanao and its people and cooperating in the different interventions, relevant, meaningful and responsive to their needs and aspirations so that they may take the lead in engendering genuine growth and prosperity in Mindanao and in the country. MYROi obtained its juridical personality upon its registration with the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 1998.
Since then, MYROi has been engaged in socio-economic activities and has been very active in humanitarian projects for the less privileged members of the society. It has initiated and maintained comprehensive development programs and activities in various places in Mindanao MYROi is involved in community based projects, mainly helping those that were affected by conflict in Mindanao. The recent projects involved community support groups whose main activities were referral and case finding as well as advocacy towards membership to Phil health, and the conduct of health education sessions. The topics covered are TB prevention, measles, Tetanus prevention, management of childhood illnesses, waterborne diseases and alternative medicines. MYROi also conduct Psychosocial support to adults and children exposed to conflict. Because community based health referral teams were organize per sitio in the targeted sites, it is important to strengthen the community mobilisaiton that the CMHRTs are doing by engaging them also in th eprevention of chronic diseases.
