Organization Description:
tajaf foundation is a Non Governmental Organisation registered with the registrar generals department in the year 2004.it has since been operating in two districts in the eastern region of Ghana.
Its mission statement is to develop the capacity of the under previledged youth and reintegrate them into main stream society. Its vision is to become the leading NGO in the eastern region and Ghana as a whole in youth development.
Tajaf foundation has reached out to over 60 communities in the Eastern region of Ghana in the areas of HIV/AIDS, TB and Poverty alleviation.

currently, tajaf foundation has managed to solicit funds from the social investment Funds to support TB patients on admission.
The foundation also plans to embark on massive community sensitive drive on causes, effects and control of TB disease in the above mentioned areas of operation.

Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB-HIV:
Tajaf foundation plans to contribute to the contribute to the global plan to stop TB by understanding the following activities;
1. scaling up access to HIV testing among TB patients.My organisation hopes to target100% of TB patients to be for HIV by the end of 2015. This intervention is critical because HIV-associated rates of TB incidence and mortality is dangerously on the increase.
2. scaling up access to ART for HIV-positive TB patients. The foundation will undertake huge community sensation drive to popularise and expand the provision of ART to 100% of HIV-positive TB patients by the end of year 2012.
3. scaling up of TB screening among people living with HIV. The foundation will counsel people receiving treatment for HIV on the need to undertaking. TB screening with the hope of ensuring that 100% of people receiving HIV care are screened for TB by the year 2015 using a symptom based clinical algorithm.
4. scaling up access to IPT among people living with HIV and who do not have active TB. Tajaf will provide the platform for the sensitisation and counseling of all HIV positive people, who do not have active TB on the need for IPT, by the year 2015.
5. coordinate global- level efforts to reduce the burden of HIV related TB.
Tajaf foundation will network with other TB/HIV working groups to provide coordination of the global response to the TB/HIV epidemic in terms of best practice and lessons learned. it will also work to increase the visibility of TB through advocacy and promotion of collaborative TB/HIV activities to achieve the 2015 targets.
