Surjodoy Somaj Unnayann Foundation is a local based non government, non political development and voluntary organization has been working with the disadvantaged poor people at Ashulia in Dhaka District since 2006. It works especially for ensuring the maternal and Child health for poor and ultra poor people of Bangladesh. It also takes in imitative to remove poverty through Youth development. It desires to see a developed society where people are living with peace and tranquillity.
Ashulia is a northern part of Dhaka district of Bangladesh, which is comprised of 05 Unions and 25 Villages. The majority population are illiterate and day workers. They live hand to mouth. They have no general knowledge to protect themselves from different types of diseases. About two millions people are living in this area. People have to migrate in different town in search of jobs. Some time male counterpart stays outside home for 3-6 months to earn money for their family.

Under such circumstances, women and children are extremely victimized; they do not have way to survive as well. In addition, this area is being fallen risk factor of HIV/AID. This area is surrounded by many mills and factories, that’s why floating people are living there. And also increasing created risk factor by illegal abortion in this area. The literacy rate of Ashulia is very poor especially girls and women in remote areas belonged illiterate. Girls and women are victims of early marriage, polygamy, divorces, dowry, rapping and many other kinds of physical torture as well as domestic violence due to economical deprivation along with influence of religious bound and prejudice of the society.

Emerging from social commitment to develop the situation and condition of the society, Surjodoy Somaj Unnayan Foundation (SSUF) has established and come close to people with special emphasis of primary health care service, clinical service and youth empowerment. Organization realizes that proper training and necessary practice can change the social scenario. SSU
