Organization Description:
1.Our mission is a TB Free South Africa. Based largely in KWAZULU-NATAL but with outreaches in the Eastern Cape and planned for both Freestate and Mpumulanga we focus on Tuberculosis education, screening and testing but with a core nutrition program to prevent latent TB from becoming active.
2.Both the Manager and Chairman have had TB, the Chairman currently in 3rd month of Treatment.
3.Our motto is "Fid, Treat and Feed" which encapsulates the basic work we do in the urban, rural and deep-rural areas.

Please tell us how your organization is contributing to your country's national TB control plan:
ATBAK volunteers are linked to their local clinic and assist both with DOT as well as tracing of defaulters. They also provide a nutritional base through one home one garden to help other family members build up their immune response and so prevent TB activation.

Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
Training of DOT volunteers and setting up of DOT Support groups to assist DOT Volunteers in their work. Awareness and education in community groups including, church groups, Traditional healers, Traditional Leaders, Ward councillors, schools, businesses mothers groups, PWLA groups

Drug-Resistant TB:
Limited to support for the families of DR TB patients and supporting them with Home Gardens and the like.

TB-HIV:
Collaboration with HIV/AIDS groups, assistance and support with mobilisations, additional support through our Nutrition programs for those families infected of affected with HIV/AIDS and TB
