Organization Description:
GARHWAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND WELFARE SOCIETY (GCDWS) is a national NGO and contributes towards its mission and goal for improving RCH in accordance with the policy of Government of India. Its main objectives are to promote the health status of people with maximum emphasis to women, children and adolescents. Beside this GCDWS does various programs like environmental health—e.g water and sanitation by providing safe drinking water and construction of low cost toilets, Income generation program, Local governance, capacity building of volunteers in field level(orientation/training to village health workers, Community based distributors(CBD’S), TBA’s,career building, family life education and rights of adolescents, mansions, plumbers, fitters etc). GCDWS works in Uttarakhand state with other states too.
GCDWS have successfully implemented a number of projects funded by national and international agencies like Ministry of health and Family welfare Government of India, USAID, UNICEF, Government of UA, SIFPSA, World Food Program, ICDS, Population council of India, World relief Fund Canada-EFICOR-New Delhi, HIHT-Jolly Grant etc on reproductive and child health, adolescent and environmental health
