Organization Description:
To improve the situation of rural and urban women of northern Ghana and their families by assisting them to work together through meetings, mutual self-help, capacity building training and to promote the alleviation of inequalities that confronts them as well as working to meet their need for health, food, clothing, shelter and education.
We are interested in tuberculosis because the disease is common in our area of operation in Ghana. We are interested in saving our people from new infections and dying. Dr. Iddrisu our expert in TB, works for the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) and has done a lot in terms of research, detection and curing of TB in and around Tamale.

We are contributing by attending the partnership meetings and AGMs and making valuable contributions. We have submitted a proposal to the TB Partnership Ghana for funding to do community awareness creation, screening, testing and detection of TB in Kuuko, a suburb of Tamale.

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
RUWA does community advocacy as it mobilizes communities for awareness creation through seminars and workshops. After awareness creation talks we do screening, testing and possible detection.

Drug-Resistant TB:
Dr. Iddrisu, our experts is the doctor at the chest clinic in TTH and has done some research on Drug-Resistant TB, he has cured several patients of DR-TB

New Diagnostics:
As we engage of community mobilization and sensitization, we detect new cases of TB in communities

Research:
RUWA has done some research led by Dr. Iddrisu in our operational areas. We have identified high risk communities in Tamale and have plans to visit them
