IOGT International’s mission is to unite, strengthen and empower civil society to tackle alcohol and other drugs as serious obstacles to development on personal, community, societal and global level.
IOGT International advocates comprehensive and evidence-based solutions consisting of public policy measures as well as scientific research, prevention, education and awareness raising, capacity building and treatment and rehabilitation.

Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
Our member organizations working with treatment and recovery for alcohol and other drugs use disorders are both screening their patients for co-morbidities including TB; and they are providing services to TB care delivery facilities to help identify TB patients who might need help with alcohol and other drugs problems.

TB-HIV:
On population level we work to raise awareness of alcohol as major risk factor for both TB and HIV/ AIDS. We also work to strengthen governments' capacity and ability to implement alcohol policy best buy measures to prevent and reduce the overall TB and HIV burden respectively that are associated with alcohol.
