ONE LIFE - TWO DISEASES - ONE RESPONSE
Bold new leadership is needed to galvanize action on the HIV/TB epidemic. The first HIV/TB Global Leaders' Forum, to be held on 9 June 2008 at the United Nations in New York, will bring together decision-makers who can accelerate action on fighting the dual epidemic. The meeting, which has been endorsed by the UN Secretary General, His Excellency Mr Ban Ki-moon, will be held on the eve of the high-level meeting of the General Assembly on HIV/AIDS.
The Forum will bring together heads of state, senior political and UN officials with leaders of civil society, media, technical agencies and the private sector. It is expected that the Forum, will produce a Call for Action to drastically cut the number of deaths associated with HIV/TB co-infection.
