The Stop TB Partnership's Working Group on Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization held its first full meeting since the Working Group's launch in 2005. The two-day meeting, which was held prior to the Union World Conference on Lung Health, was attended by close to 100 participants, including members of the Working Group as well as other interested parties.
The Working Group met in a plenary for the opening session and then separated into the individual sub groups: 1) Global Advocacy for Social Mobilization and 2) ACSM at Country Level. The agendas for both Sub Groups were based on the Working Group's workplan for the next biennium and included presentations on best practices and in-depth discussions on supporting other working group and initiatives to ensure better synergy in all ACSM efforts.
Other topics discussed per Sub Group include:
Sub-Group on Global Advocacy for Resource Mobilization
- Resource mobilization and national advocacy
- Involvement of civil society and TB affected community
- Media, messaging and upcoming events
Sub-Group on ACSM at Country Level
- Best practices at country level
