Launched: Global online consultation to develop the Global Plan to End TB 2023-2030

Deadline: Monday, 31 May 2021

17 May 2021, Geneva, Switzerland - The Stop TB Partnership launched today the first of two online consultations to inform the development of its new Global Plan to End TB for the period 2023 to 2030. The Global Plan will specifically identify what resources are needed to end the tuberculosis (TB) epidemic globally and achieve the target to end TB by 2030, as contained within Sustainable Development Goal 3 and the World Health Organization (WHO) End TB Strategy milestones.
Since its creation, the Stop TB Partnership has issued multi-year Global Plans that provide a road map for concerted global advocacy and estimate what resources are needed to achieve the global targets for TB.
In November 2020, the Stop TB Partnership Board recommended that the process of the development of the new Global Plan should take place under the guidance of a Global Plan Task Force.

The development of the new Global Plan aims to be as inclusive as possible. Two worldwide online consultations will seek diverse inputs from a range of stakeholders, including governments, technical experts, the private sector, civil society, and people affected by the disease.

The first consultation invites participants to share ideas, examples, and experience from the field to lead the direction of the new Global Plan.

The consultation will run from 17 to 31 May 2021. Comments and inputs provided through the public consultation will be shared with the Global Plan Task Force for review and consideration.

Partners and stakeholders are invited to provide feedback and comments on the following areas:

  • Examples and lessons learned in implementation of the Global Plan to End TB 2018-2022;
  • Areas that will require increased focus in the new Global Plan 2023-2030; and
  • The ambition level and the needed approaches, tools, and funding to end TB by 2030.

The current Global Plan 2018-2022 outlines a “business case” for the investment needed to implement the United Nations Political Declaration on TB, which contains concrete targets and commitments that – if fulfilled by the deadline of December 2022 – will set the world on the right track to end TB by 2030.

The Global Plan 2023-2030 will provide a costed road map towards ending TB by 2030 and is expected to be launched before the end of 2022.
