GLI-FIND Training Package on the Practical Guide to TB Laboratory Strengthening Training: This modular training package has been developed to help familiarize those who are providing technical assistance to TB laboratories in low- and middle-income countries with current WHO recommendations and international best practices for TB laboratory strengthening. The online training modules are based on the GLI Practical Guide to TB Laboratory Strengthening which provides practical guidance on use of newly recommended diagnostics in model algorithms, as well as guidance in key technical areas, including quality assurance and quality management systems, specimen collection and registration, procurement and supply-chain management, diagnostics connectivity, biosafety, data management, human resources, strategic planning and other topics.
GLI Training Package: Programme Modules for Diagnostic Network Strengthening: This modular training package has been developed to guide programme and laboratory managers and their implementation partners on key topics for diagnostic network strengthening, including: TB diagnostics policies and strategies; practical considerations for implementing TB diagnostics; planning and establishing a sample referral network; planning and implementing a quality assurance programme; planning and implementing connectivity solutions; monitoring and evaluating; funding; planning an integrated diagnostic approach. The modules are in PowerPoint format for country customization, and are accompanied by facilitator guides and worksheets for participants. These programme modules complement existing GLI training packages for WHO-endorsed TB diagnostic tests.
GLI Training Package: Technical Modules for Xpert MTB/RIF (Ultra): In 2014, the Global Laboratory Initiative along with partners developed a set of training modules for the Xpert MTB/RIF assay. This current training package builds on these early modules and provides implementers with key updates and includes the implementation of Xpert® MTB/RIF Ultra. The training targets public health programme managers, clinical managers and staff (including physicians, nurses, and clinic and community health workers), as well as policy makers, laboratory staff, including quality-assurance officers, implementing partners and funding agencies. Areas covered include: TB Biosafety; specimen referral; procurement and inventory management; recording and reporting results; monitoring quality indicators; quality assurance of the Xpert MTB/RIF (Ultra); external quality assurance; and a set clinical case studies to provide clinicians with sensitization training for the Xpert MTB/RIF and Xpert MTB/RIF Ultra tests. The modules are in PowerPoint format for country customization, and are accompanied by facilitator guides and worksheets for participants. This training package is intended to be used in conjunction with the manufacturer’s training resources on how to install, operate and maintain the device.
