The Health Development Center “AFI” is the successor of the Community-Based Association “Carlux” (holder of the 1st prize as the most active NGO in TB control, awarded in 2009 by WHO/Europe, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and the Council of Europe) that has been operating in the field of TB control and prevention since 1999.
Our mission is to reduce the burden of TB and HIV in the Republic of Moldova, including the integration in society of people infected with TB/HIV by promoting prevention activities in prisons, facilitating the access of vulnerable people to qualitative health services, launching advocacy actions and increasing the responsibility of communities in TB prevention and promotion of the rights of people with TB/HIV.
The vision of the Health Development Center “AFI”is: Moldova without TB, i.e. a society accountable for its own health and tolerant towards people affected by TB and HIV/AIDS.

The Health Development Center “AFI” promotes the right to health and quality services among disadvantaged groups of the population by: - supporting the public policies that lead to improved health state in the Republic of Moldova, - involving community members in the improvement of people’s health in the Republic of Moldova, - taking measures to promote health as a priority value in the Republic of Moldova, - creating partnerships between community and authorities and public institutions in order to solve public health issues in the Republic of Moldova, - creating partnerships with other community-based associations and non-governmental organizations with a view to improve the health status in the Republic of Moldova, - supporting clinic and/or epidemiologic interventions leading to improved health among vulnerable groups, - educational activities in the field of public health, - providing technical support to public institutions involved in the delivery of health services. |
