Organization Description:
Shandong Provincial Center for TB Control Center (SPCTC) was established in 1952, and has been responsible for TB control in Shandong for over 60 years now. SPTCC is found in early 1950's and its only and entire task is tackling the tuberculosis in Shandong Province. Before1990, SPCTC mainly implemented national TB program. The epidemic of TB gradually decreased. After 1990's, severity of TB epidemic was recognised nationaly and internationally, and international donors started to support China's TB control. SPCTC has successfully implemented TB project supported by World Bank loan (1992-2001), also knowen as Health Five Project in China. Thanks to this project, capacity of Shandong Province was improved greatly, and DOTS strategy was expanded all 141 counties. On average, 35 thousands patients were detected annually at project year. Treatment success rate increased to 85% by the end project and remain at high level ever since. Most staff of SPCTC have experienced the application, implementation and final evaluation stage.

SPCTC is a governmental agency that is dedicated for TB control in Shandong Province. Shandong Province, covering 15 sq kilometers, is located at eastern coast of China mainland. Hosting the second largest population in China, Shandong has 94 million residents. The core responsibility of SPCTC is implementation of NTP at province level.

Shandong has a well-established three-tiered (province-prefecture-county) TB control network. The 17 prefecture TB dispensaries are intermediate level, which help SPCTC implementation TB programme. Each county has one government funded TB dispensary to provide TB service for their respective county. TB dispensary is basic management unit of the county, with qualified and experienced physicians, lab technicians, X-ray technicians, and DOT supporters in place. SPCTC routinely provides technical guidance and monitoring to dispensaries province-wide.

TB Care Delivery:
l Shandong Provincial TB Control Center has been responsible for TB control in Shandong for over 60 years now. Its only and entire task is tackling the tuberculosis in Shandong Province. Before1990, It mainly implemented national TB program. The epidemic of TB gradually decreased. After 1990's, severity of TB epidemic was recognised nationaly and internationally, and international donors started to support China's TB control. SPTCC has successfully implemented TB project supported by World Bank loan (1992-2001), also knowen as Health Five Project in China. Thanks to this project, capacity of Shandong Province was improved greatly, and DOTS strategy was expanded all 141 counties.

Drug-Resistant TB:
Our Center, as one of SRs of China Global Fund TB Project, is implementing Global Fund MDR-TB project in Shandong,and the project covers 30 million population. From 2013, Our center is expanding MDR-TB control services besides Global Fund project areas. Now all 94 million people are being covered for the services.

TB-HIV:
Our Center, as one of SRs of China Global Fund TB Project, has completed Global Fund TB/HIV project in Shandong. And the interventions of the project has been scaling up in Shandong.

New Diagnostics:
Shandong is jointing hands with Gates Foudation China office testing rapid DR TB DST methods

Research:
Our Center is implementing 2 operational TB researches supported by WHO West Pacific Regional Office.
