Please tell us how your organization is contributing to your country's national TB control plan:
TB is one of the major killer diseases in india. It is highly prevalent in the rural areas of madurai district WHO and Govt of india realizing the economy of the situation implemented “DOTS Regiment” and Revised National Tuberculosis Programme on a water footing. Inspite of these effective programme, with the advent of HIV and AIDS, Tuberculosis has definitely made resurgence. An alarming fact is that despite the Directly Observed Tuberculosis Treatment shot course “DOTS” treatment, there is emergence of MDR-TB in many areas of madurai District.

THULASI FOUNDATION in its Sugam Care centre- a DOTS provider and other sub centers has enrolled about 36 TB patients. They as DOTS providers get drugs from the nearby Govt Hospital.The compliance of the patents was good and there was marked clinical improvement in most of three patients.


(x) Training Programme

Health;-

We have conducted training programmes on the awareness on HIV/AIDS, STIs, RTIs, TB etc to leaders of women groups, Youth Groups, adolescent girls etc on the spread and prevention of HIV/AIDS with flowchart depicting the syndromes and symptoms of STI/HIV/AIDS , condom usage etc.,
