Organization Description:
Alliance Lanka's mission is to develop effective and sustainable approaches in the management of Helath, Gender and other development based initiatives through capacity building of local communities. Our main focus upto now had been HIV prevention/care, Gender, poverty reduction and economic development for disadvantaged communities. We are interested in TB work as we can use our community reaching capacity and counseling centres to work on TB to promote case detection and continuous treatment. We are also closely involved with the National TB programme in Sri Lanka.

Please tell us how your organization is contributing to your country's national TB control plan:
As a member of the CCM Sri Lanka and as a civil society organisation our organisation continue to work towards development of a pragmetic national strategic plan involving communities. We are also hoping to assist the national TB programme in the development of a robust concept note based on the needs of the New Funding model of the Global Fund. We participated in the local events of the National TB Day programme this year.

Contribution

Please tell us how your organization will contribute to the Global Plan to Stop TB by briefly describing its involvement in any of the areas of work listed below:

TB Care Delivery:
From 2015 onwards we are planning to use our existing counseling centres linked to plantation sector, NGO/CBO partners based in many parts of Sri Lanka to engage in DOTS expansion and enhancement to reach the hard to reach populations

TB-HIV:
We will also work in close association with the three organisations representing PLHIV and other partner NGOs/CBOs to address TB-HIV co infection

New Diagnostics:
If funds are available we will also work with the national TB programme on case detection, sputum collection and follow up

Research:
Our organisation could also undertake knowledge attitude and behaviour related research to assess the country level situation in relation to TB in marginalised groups with more respiratory illnesses.
