Public private partnerships in tuberculosis research and development

In times of increasing rates of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis and HIV-TB comorbidity and virtually untreatable cases, development of new strategies, new diagnostic tools and new drugs becomes more and more important. The past years saw increased efforts in research in diagnostics, therapy and prevention, also thanks to an increased engagement of non-governmental organizations and a fruitful collaboration with private companies. How these public-private-philanthropic partnerships function, what the newest developments in research and development are that will critically be reviewed in the seventh scientific symposium of the Koch-Metchnikov-Forum.
