Guide to Stepwise Implementation of Diagnostic Network Optimization (DNO)
27 August 2025. -This implementation guide provides users with a simple and practical stepwise process for conducting a Diagnostic Network Optimization (DNO). It explains how to use a data-driven approach to enhance TB diagnostic networks, detailing each phase of the process. Countries will learn when and how to conduct a DNO, which stakeholders should be involved, and key considerations when starting.
The guide outlines various types of DNO analyses; the challenges they address; and the time, data, and tools required for each. It also provides frameworks for conducting DNO, implementing the results, and monitoring progress over time in alignment with National Strategic Plans and funding cycles. A range of case studies is included to showcase real world examples and outcomes of DNOs in several countries. By the end of the guide, users will understand which type of DNO analysis best fits their unique context and have the materials available to carry it out effectively.
