Key Updates on the Impact of TB Funding Cuts

The TB response was and remains severely underfunded. The annual global need for TB Care and Prevention is US$22 billion, according to the Global Plan to End 2023-2030 and the 2023 UN Political Declaration to End TB.

There was $5.7 billion available in 2023, representing only 26% of the global need (WHO, 2024). Donor funding accounted for 62% of available TB funding in low-income countries in 2023 (WHO, 2024). TB funding cuts will have a devastating impact on the fight against tuberculosis and put millions of lives at risk.
