30 June 2020, Geneva, Switzerland - Stop TB Partnership is pleased to launch the call for the 2020 Kochon Prize nominations.  This year to honor the hard work, devotion and efforts as well as to mark International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife, the Kochon Prize 2020 will recognize exceptional Nurses or Nurse Organizations who are in the vanguard of the fight to end TB. Nurses in every country in the world are at the heart and soul of the TB response as caregivers, counselors, researchers, innovators, and among the greatest advocates for people affected by TB. It is time for us to recognize their hard work and to recompensate their efforts and professionalism.
 
Who can be nominated?
Nurse individuals, associations, and organizations can be nominated for their work and commitment to advancing the TB response through nursing, research, innovation, policy and partnership development, and advocacy.
 
Nomination Period
The period for nominations begins on 30 June 2020. The online nomination form must be completed no later than 10 August 2020, 6:00 PM (Geneva time).
 
Nomination Process

Nominations Requirements:
  1. A nomination form; and
  2. Support letter from the nominator. The letter can also be from (endorsed by) multiple people.
Award Announcement and Ceremony
Details of the 2020 Kochon Prize will be announced at a later date.
 
 
The Kochon Foundation
Funded by the Kochon Foundation, a non-profit foundation based in the Republic of Korea, the USD 65,000 prize is the largest prize devoted to TB. The Kochon Prize was established in 2006 in honor of the late Chairman Chong-Kun Lee, founder of the Chong Kun Dang Pharmaceutical Corporation and Kochon Foundation in Korea, who was committed throughout his career to improving access to low-cost lifesaving antibiotics and anti-TB drugs. Selection Criteria
  • The extent to which the nominee has made an exceptional contribution to improving the TB response for people with TB, communities affected by TB or service delivery, primarily through providing health services, support, nursing or engagement in research, innovation, policy and partnership development, or advocacy.
  • The extent to which the nominee has shown outstanding understanding or conducted advocacy on behalf of people affected by TB.
  • The extent to which the Kochon Prize will contribute to furthering the nominee's work in TB nursing.
