MSF launches new series of blogs by MDR-TB patients

24 June 2011 - Geneva - Medecins San Frontiers (MSF) has launched a new website featuring blogs written by people on treatment for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). Called TB and ME, the website features bloggers from around the world writing about their experience living with the disease.

Colisile Lushaba from Swaziland began her MDR-TB treatment on 31 January 2011 at MSF's Shiselweni project in Swaziland. In addition to her treatment for MDR-TB, she is also on antiretroviral therapy for HIV/AIDS. Colisile & her mother Zanele are both blogging for TB&ME for the next 6 months.

Christiaan Van Vuuren, from Australia, also known as the Fully Sick Rapper, was diagnosed with tuberculosis in December 2009. In 2010 it was discovered that Christiaan had multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. After spending nearly seven months in isolation, plus many more taking a combination of TB drugs, Christiaan is nearly at the end of his treatment.
