The Stop TB Partnership Global Drug Facility’s short film is in the Webby Awards

WE'RE IN THE WEBBYS!

HIGH HOPES FOR THE STOP TB PARTNERSHIP'S GLOBAL DRUG FACILITY SHORT FILM ABOUT THE PEDIATRIC DRUG-RESISTANT TUBERCULOSIS (DR-TB) INITIATIVE

Geneva 10th February, 2020. We’ve just submitted the Stop TB Partnership’s Global Drug Facility (GDF) Pediatric DR-TB Initiative short film into the Webby Awards. The ‘Webbys’ are the internet’s ‘Oscars’ and winning this prestigious competition will generate huge public interest in global TB issues and GDF's work to increase global access to quality-assured and affordable TB drugs.

For decades, there were no DR-TB medicines specifically formulated for children, so doctors had to treat them by crushing and dividing drugs made for adults. This changed last year when GDF, supported by USAID and the Government of Japan, launched the Pediatric DR-TB Initiative to supply child-friendly medicines and help ensure global access to the best possible treatments to children suffering from one of the world’s deadliest diseases.

GDF’s Pediatric DR-TB Initiative short film features relieved health workers around the world who are now saving lives with these new and vital drugs that come in flavored, dissolvable form and accurate child doses, and it shows how the children being treated and their overjoyed families, are now getting their lives on track and back to normality.

The Webby Awards finalists will be announced on the 31st of March, and if we’re selected we’ll need your votes to help us win and raise awareness of TB to millions of people across the globe. We’ll keep you posted!
