Stop TB Partnership: Unstoppable — no fear, no limits, until TB is history

Together, the Stop TB Partnership refuses to slow down. Every setback fuels our drive and every challenge sharpens our determination. We’re pushing harder, rising higher, and reaching further — unstoppable in our fight for a TB-free world.
Like the rest of the global health and development communities around the world, the Stop TB Partnership had to come to terms with and adapt to funding and policy changes.

The Stop TB Partnership was able to pivot our efforts and even expand as is the case for our Global Drug Facility (GDF), as well as our innovation work (TB REACH), including Introducing New Tools Project (iNTP). In some areas, we were able to embrace the challenges and create new opportunities for funding our local partners through our new Service Delivery Support mechanism. In other areas, we’re thrilled to see some funding partners increasing their support for our innovations and start-ups engagement work and we were happy to see that our long-time partners like L’Initiative, France, and UNITAID are funding community organizations through Challenge Facility for Civil Society (CFCS).

The Stop TB Partnership did our best to stay on our feet, but we did take some hits to our advocacy, communications, and governance work. Most difficult though was the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to 30% of our staff. Though most of our partners have had to make a similar decision in recent months, the loss of our longtime colleagues is difficult. And we’re fully aware of the difficulties and challenges our TB survivors, civil society and community partners are facing and remain committed to doing our best to support them.

Though the Stop TB Partnership is smaller and a bit bruised, we remain mighty and fiercely committed to our mission. While our colleagues working in GDF, iNTP, CFCS, Strategic  Initiatives and Innovations and Grants teams continue their work, we also ensured a great presence (including a photo exhibition and a special session) in Tokyo and Yokohama during the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) week. While in Japan, we managed to meet, speak and plan joint actions with our partners, colleagues and friends from the governments of Japan, Nigeria, Kenya, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and Cameroon. And we joined efforts and hands with numerous private sector partners from Japan towards increasing visibility and efforts towards ending TB.

And the momentum keeps building!

Here’s a sneak peek of what’s coming in September and October (on top of our day-to-day work to support our country partners in their amazing efforts to end TB).

  • As part of the Re-imagining TB Care (RTC) initiative and with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the Stop TB Partnership and the Asian Development Bank will co-host an official side at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) High Level Meeting on Health and Economy and World Bio Summit (WBS) on 16 September in Seoul. The high-level, interactive roundtable discussion will focus on “Beyond K-pop: Unleashing the Power of Korean Health Technologies Across the Asia-Pacific Region” with participation from senior level representatives from the Asia-Pacific region, Korean government, and the Korean private sector. For additional information about the event, see here. While in Seoul, we’ll also hold high-level, bilateral meetings with the various Korean government entities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Unification, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention and with the Korean private sector companies, from start-ups to multinational companies.
  • During the UNGA week in New York City, the Stop TB Partnership will participate in Concordia’s 2025 Annual Summit, as well as for our own event on TB and NCDs  – Breaking the silos: Uniting the fight against TB and NCDs featuring ministers of health, survivors, and our local hands-on partners on integrated diagnosis and care for TB and NCDs.
  • Stop TB Partnership, co-hosted with the Department of Health of the Philippines and Asian Development Bank, will organize our 39th Board Meeting from 28-30 October in Manila. Our packed three-day agenda will include impactful site visits, rich discussions and informative presentations. We’re thrilled as we’ll be honored, together with our Chair of the Board and Secretary of Health Philippines, Teodoro Herbosa, and our Vice chair, Mr. Austin Obiefuna, to welcome the First Lady of Nigeria; the Ministers of Health of Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, South Africa, Tajikistan, and Vietnam; the African Union Commissioner; and author, Youtuber, and influencer John Green to our Board meeting.

As always, while the Stop TB Partnership shares our updates, we want to hear from you too! Keep an eye on our alerts and join the conversation on social media.
To our Secretariat team, partners, Board members, and friends — thank you for your patience, support, and resilience. Let’s stay hopeful, ambitious, and relentless.
Because yes — we can end TB!
