Stop TB Partnership’s TB REACH initiative seeks candidates to review Wave 8 proposals

TB REACH announces a call for candidates to join our Proposal Review Committee (PRC). Individuals actively engaged in the fight against TB are encouraged to apply. The TB REACH PRC reviews proposals to drive TB case finding and treatment adherence innovation.

Our area of focus in Wave 8
In this wave we are focusing on the intersection of TB elimination and private provider engagement (PPE).

USAID has provided funding to TB REACH, dedicated to financing a small grants scheme for PPE proposals and only local organizations from the following countries are eligible: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Cambodia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Africa, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The selected Wave 8 PPE projects will be important steps, given that a number of NTPs remain reluctant to “give up” any of their existing GF grants for this kind of implementation, and that this fact alone could cause the action plans and progress on PPE to stall. Therefore, the initial financing of intermediary organizations with Stop TB Partnership grants is a critical step. Once established, these entities will be better positioned to advocate for coverage under Global Fund.

Who we are looking for
Global health and/or development experts with knowledge of TB, but with a strong background in PPE across multiple areas, including case detection, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), pediatric TB, mHealth/ICT, TB diagnostics and radiography, laboratory systems, community engagement, organizational capacity development, and other relevant disease areas (e.g. HIV/AIDS).

Applicants must be willing to dedicate time in the spring and summer of 2020 to review innovative proposals from a global set of change makers and select those that will have the most promise to contribute to ending the TB epidemic.

Who we are
The Stop TB Partnership’s TB REACH initiative is a multi-lateral funding mechanism which provides a platform for testing innovative strategies aimed at increasing the number of people treated for TB, decreasing the time to appropriate treatment and improving treatment success. TB REACH combines fast-track, results-based financing and rigorous, external monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to produce results, so national governments, the private sector and other donor agencies can scale-up successful approaches and maximize their own investments.

What will the PRC do
PRC members will review hundreds of TB REACH applications remotely in the spring of 2020 and during an in-person meeting in late June 2020 (dates and location to be determined) to recommend a final funding list to the Executive Committee of the Stop TB Board.
