Treatment Action Group is an independent AIDS research and policy think tank fighting for better treatment, a vaccine, and a cure for AIDS. TAG’s TB/HIV Project works to strengthen global and U.S.-focused advocacy to increase funding and ensure ambitious and improved research, programs, and policy to ensure universal access to quality services for people with TB and HIV. The project works: to catalyze global leadership to accelerate momentum toward universal access for high-quality TB and TB/HIV services including implementation of the revised WHO policy on collaborative TB/HIV activities; and to accelerate funding and progress in R&D for better tools to prevent, diagnose, and treat TB. TAG advocates for investment in and development of: rapid drug susceptibility test (DST) assays that enable more people, especially children and people living with HIV to receive accurate diagnosis for drug-resistant TB; and novel drugs and regimens that are less toxic, more efficacious, and can achieve cure in less time than existing treatments.
