FOR ALL OF US - NEAR OR FAR: "TUBERCULOSIS - LIVE FROM NEW YORK"

22 September 2018 ¦Geneva - The historic TB event, the UN High-Level Meeting on TB, that we are all waiting for is imminent. Preceding it, and as announced earlier this week (read more here), New York will welcome numerous side events starting tomorrow, 23 September and up until 28 September.

The busy week agenda will be filled with events organized by a large number of partners and TB stakeholders, including but not limited to the Stop TB Partnership, WHO, USAID, WEF, Global Fund, African Union, IFRC, KNCV, MSH, PATH, The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, UNITAID, UNICEF, UNAIDS, UNF, CDC, GFAN, OSF, PIH, TB People, Nikkei and J&J.

However, most of us will not be present in New York or, even if in New York, many will not be able to access the UN Headquarters where Heads of State and Government will, for the first time in UN history, discuss and adopt the Political Declaration on the Fight against Tuberculosis during a dedicated high-level meeting on 26 September.

With this in mind, we worked to find solutions to broadcast the meeting to the widest audience.

1. On the day of the UN HLM - 26 September and to allow all our partners, including civil society and community representatives, journalists, technical partners, member states and all others keen to participate in this momentous occasion, the Stop TB Partnership has provisioned for two options:

For those of you in New York - join us at the Tribeca Film Center - where we rented the main room to come together and enjoy a "TB community feeling." We know that numerous country delegations cannot accommodate everyone in the UN Headquarters because of space limitations in the main conference rooms and we want to ensure we are "United to end TB".

The live streaming of the UN HLM will start at 9:30 AM New York time and will follow the plenary sessions and the panels throughout and until 6:30 PM New York time. The screening is free to access, but the seats are limited first to come first served.

The address of the venue: Tribeca Screening Room - Tribeca Film Center and Film Festival /375 Greenwich St #2 /New York /NY 10013.

2. Events 23-28 September - Most of the side events organized in the days preceding, during or after the UN HLM will be webcast making it possible for everyone to join virtually.

3. With our Breaking News #UNHLMTB, we will share with you all relevant and groundbreaking developments from New York throughout this memorable week.
