06 March 2014 - Beerse, Belgium - The European Medicines Agency just approved bedaquiline (trade name Sirturo) for treating pulmonary MDR-TB in adults.
The US Food and Drug Administration approved this drug in December 2012. Janssen/ Johnson & Johnson, the drug's sponsor, are obligated to conduct a phase III trial to confirm the drug's safety and determine optimal dosing and background drugs.
