Stop TB Partnership pays tribute to Dr. Paul Farmer

It is with great sorrow that we learned of the recent passing of our much-cherished friend and dear colleague, Dr. Paul Farmer.

Paul was a GIANT in global health, a pioneer, humanitarian and champion who fought tirelessly to bring medical services to all those underserved and to ensure that every single human being is treated with love and dignity.

Paul was an amazing supporter of Stop TB Partnership's work and a leader and visionary for the TB Community at large. His fight to ensure people with drug-resistant TB have access to care, to new and more effective drugs and the promotion of community-based care for those affected by this deadly disease and other infectious diseases will forever be remembered.

“Like so many of us, I am devastated by the news of Paul’s passing. He was my mentor, supporter, friend, a fellow companion in the fight against TB,” said Dr. Lucica Ditiu, Executive Director of the Stop TB Partnership. “On behalf of the entire Stop TB Partnership, we would like to pay the last tribute to Paul and his legacy as a global health champion, and we will do our best to ensure that we put in place a way to remember him in coming years. We offer our most heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues around the world.”
