A Health Through Walls worker performs a chest X-ray in a prison using a portable X-ray machine equipped with an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm, which automatically detects tuberculosis lesions in the lungs. People deprived of liberty are a key population in the TB response and they have some of the highest rates of TB globally, sometimes 20x as high as the general population. People deprived of liberty refers to anyone held in prisons, penitentiaries, correctional facilities, jails, detention centers, or similar facilities. TB REACH projects seek to provide innovative TB services to populations with limited access to healthcare.
