TB REACH Wave 2 projects reversed an overall negative trend in case notification in a population of 250 million which was declining by 2.7% a year. 30 out of all 45 Wave 2 projects used Xpert MTB/RIF as part of their case finding strategies. A total of 149 machines and 259,000 test cartridges were requested for Wave 2. Projects using Xpert MTB/RIF testing found 18.6% more cases than expected. Together, Wave 2 projects notified 53.498 additional TB patients to their countries’ National TB Programs (NTPs) (These numbers are adjusted by historical trend).
