The Stop TB Partnership and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) launched a new report – the first of its kind – that assesses the governance of National Tuberculosis Programs (NTPs) in 22 high burden countries. The assessment report entitled: “Governance of TB in 22 Countries” is envisioned to support and strengthen the performance of national-level action against tuberculosis (TB), one of the world’s oldest and deadliest infectious diseases.

The 2021 report will serve a baseline against which future progress can be measured. It assesses the NTP’s performance in four thematic areas: transparency, inclusiveness, legal framework, and process efficiency and effectiveness. Under each theme, the NTP is measured against five ambitious benchmarks.
